Industrial Uses Technical grade fumaric acid is a product manufactured under good manufacturing practice. However, it will not be manufactured for human or animal consumption. Therefore, it does not have to comply with the food regulations.
Fumaric acid is used in the chemical synthesis of:

- Vinyl acetate and Vinylidene chloride copolymers, used to manufacture paper and carton for food packaging.
- Styren-butadiene made Latex for paints, enamel for paper and cardboard, adhesives and carpet backing.
- Modified alquidic resins (maleic)
- Acidulant solutions and buffers derived from different chemical processes
